It seems like these days, everyone’s idea of romance involves a great bottle of wine, a sunset, and the rolling sands of the windy beach at night. This is one of the most classic romantic ideas of a getaway and is indeed a great way to show someone special that you care. Times do change, however, and sometimes it is necessary to change with them. Rather than remove the beach element that we are all so fond of, you can simply add some modern or unique twists to your weekend getaway to ensure that it is one you will both remember for years to come.
One great thing to do on the beach to set a special trip apart from all of the others is to have a nice late morning or early afternoon picnic. The sun is usually too hot during the mid day hours for a comfortable picnic, so you will really want to make sure you set your picnic basket down early and wear some good sunscreen just to be on the safe side. A picnic will allow the two of you to share some intimate conversation and really enjoy the simplicity of being in one another’s company.
Another thing you can do to take the ordinary to extraordinary on a romantic beach getaway is to spend your time at a smaller beach. It will not only be easier to book yourself a spot, but it will also likely be less crowded and have thus lots more privacy.
You can do any number of things to make a getaway on the beach a little bit more memorable. Men, bring the wine you know she likes. Ladies, don’t forget his favorite pair of slippers so he can feel a little bit more at home on the shore. (The slippers are hideous, we know. Bring them anyway.) Just keep your partner’s interests and concerns in mind when planning your getaway and try to do as many of your activities as possible together within reason. And remember, it’s a getaway!
